Staying Connected: Quarantine-style

As we all know, Covid-19 has taken the world by storm. There is solidarity in the fact that we’re all in it together :) We pray continually for our world during this pandemic, and we have the utmost confidence that God is good in it all!

Life at the Mission

Here at the Mission, we are abiding by social distancing protocols and each household, including each of our five orphanage homes, is quarantining the best we can. Our kids are doing GREAT, and everyone is healthy. We are having campus wide facebook challenges, posting pics, and using social media as an avenue for fun connection. Currently, the US-Mexico boarders are closed to non-essential traffic through April 20th, and in Baja, the schools are set to open back up on May 4th. But, as we all know, these dates could be adjusted at any moment :)

Live Streaming

As most everything has slowed way down, we’ve actually taken on even more here at the Mission. Like most churches we are now putting everything out online for our local church and community to stay encouraged and connected during this period of isolation.

So every week we film and edit 1 Sunday church service, 1 Thursday connection night and 5 Devotionals to be played throughout the week. So far we’ve produced 40 videos, adding up to 540 minutes of content. It’s a lot of work but it’s really fun to see how it’s created a way for our church, students and community to still meet together online, connect, get prayer and see what God has for them during this time. And we feel very honored and grateful that we have the equipment, experience and ability to technically make it happen. Not to mention such generous partners that make it possible for us to even be here.  Thank You!!

If you’d like to check out an example of the online content that we are creating for the Mission just go HERE. Or follow Iglesia La Misión on Facebook if you’d want to check it out as we go live.

Looking Forward

Once the quarantine lifts and everything opens up again, we still plan to travel to our Romania base to film and edit 4 more videos for the Mission. For now we are continuing to film the weekly content and choosing to use this time to develop good habits in our family that we can carry into the future. One thing God has been speaking to us about is stewarding our Time. Choosing to spend and invest it in the things that we value most like Family, the Kingdom and Health (body, soul and spirit).
